Today, our guest speaker was Nancy Dorsman, Outreach Coordinator with the Humanitarian Service Project.
Both of the Wheaton Rotary clubs are long time supporters of HSP. Beginning in 1979 by Karole and Floyd Kettering, and operating out of a spare bedroom in their Wheaton home, HSP is now operating from Carol Stream. There are three programs, all relying greatly on volunteers:
  • Children's Project: Groceries are provided at critical times of the year to alleviate food insecurity among children and their families.  Children also receive a beautiful birthday box to celebrate their special day, and they are empowered in the classroom with the gift of school supplies.
  • Senior Citizen Project: A monthly package of fresh, wholesome groceries and special gifts delivered straight to the homes of the elderly living in DuPage and Kane counties.
  • Christmas Offering: Making magical Christmas memories by providing 25 tons of nutritious food and 10,000 gifts  to local low-income families and seniors during the holiday season.
